Who is responsible for your data

What we collect and why

We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run a bar and answer the people who contact us.

• Contact by email — if you email us, we receive your address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message. Purpose: answering you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
• Reservations by WhatsApp — if you use the WhatsApp button, we receive your phone number, your WhatsApp profile name and your messages. Purpose: arranging and confirming your table. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before providing a service.
• Job applications — if you apply, we receive whatever you send us (name, contact details, CV, experience). Purpose: assessing your application. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
• Website usage — aggregated, anonymous statistics about how the site is used (pages viewed, referring site, country, device type). This does not identify you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data.
• We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking technology.
• We do not build visitor profiles and we do not take automated decisions about you.
• We do not ask for payment details on this website. No transaction takes place here.

How long we keep it

• Email and WhatsApp correspondence: up to 12 months after our last contact, unless it relates to an ongoing agreement.
• Job applications: up to 6 months after the selection process closes, unless you agree to us keeping them longer for future openings.
• Website statistics: aggregated figures only, with nothing retained that identifies an individual visitor.

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of service providers who process data strictly on our instructions:

• Vercel Inc. — hosting and delivery of this website, including server logs.
• WhatsApp Ireland Ltd. (Meta) — only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp. Your use of WhatsApp is also governed by the Meta privacy policy.
• Our email provider — for receiving and storing correspondence sent to hello@barbassie.be.

Transfers outside the European Economic Area

Some of these providers are established outside the EEA or may process data there. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the Standard Contractual Clauses of the European Commission or an equivalent lawful transfer mechanism.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
• Have inaccurate data corrected.
• Have your data erased where there is no overriding reason for us to keep it.
• Ask us to restrict processing, or object to processing based on legitimate interest.
• Receive the data you provided in a portable, machine-readable format.
• Withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@barbassie.be. We answer within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not disclose your data to someone else.

Security

This website is served entirely over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Access to correspondence and applications is limited to the people at Bar Bassie who need it to do their job.
